Rubber Egg Science

Here's a fun, easy experiment that is perfect for this time of year. All you need is a glass cup or jar, white vinegar, and an egg.

You place the raw egg into the glass and then pour enough vinegar in to cover the egg. After 24 hours, drain the vinegar and then pour more vinegar in to cover the egg again. Here is where the hard part comes in- you have to wait 7 days without touching the egg. Observe what's happening as the week goes on. After the week is over, rinse the egg and hold it carefully. You'll be amazed to see that the shell is no longer there!
